Agoo Leg Huggers Birthday Review and Giveaway!!

This Giveaway is now closed!!

If you have never heard of  Leg Hugger's they are a great little new gem of a product. They are leg warmers, arm warmers, cute leggings, covers for your crawling babies legs and what ever else you can think of. I like them because they are made of bamboo, so they are antimicrobial as well. They wear really and i love them!!

Agoo make children's clothing out of sustainable fabrics. "Our innovative, eco-friendly accessories are made from sustainable Bamboo fibres. No complaints about being itchy our Bamboo baby leg warmers are so soft and silky." Says Agoo. They aren't kidding!

Here is Nico wearing his Agoo Racer Arglye Leggings!! They are great. If i put him in a onesie at night for bed and his legs are cold later i just throw these on and he is good to go! The fabric is super soft and better then cotton as far as wear.

Agoo makes 33 different leggings for boys and girls. More for girls but why would you resist if you had a girl. Look at their site and see what you think. They are great for potty training, cloth diapering because they don't get in the way. I know all you mom's that use tights know what a pain it is to take off everything everytime your little one need a change or potty time. And yes even boys can use them as well. My favorite pattern is the puzzle leggings, which are in the mail now because i just got them. The blue argyle could go for boys or girls. Over all these are a great product.
After cutting up Daddy's socks up for my twins so they could wear shorts but crawl around the floor, these are great. Since Las Vegas is, dare i say HOT, these breathe very well too!!
They are one size fits baby through tween, as stated on the website and they do fit my 5 month old as well as my twin 2 1/2 year olds without a problem. You can see the sizing also in the picture above but they have lots of strech!

The Great Points:

Thrify Thursday- the many jobs of a mom

The momccupation is all about what we moms do in our mommy occupation. Many of my titles in this hard, never ending job are:
  • Financial planner
  • life coach
  • teacher
  • chef
  • coach
  • housekeeper
  • butler -lol
  • shuttle bus driver
  • hair stylist
  • Laundromat -does your husband ever wonder how his clothes just appear in his drawer??
  • dishwasher- I came home from being out of town for 2 weeks and the hubby had used Palmolive pot scrubber liquid soap in the dishwasher...we had bubble coming out everywhere, lol. I laughed so hard.
  • seamstress
  • personal shopper
  • hmmmmm- Insert your own here!! There are many more.
I love that these are the most wide array of jobs that anyone would find on a resume and we do them all.
I would love to discuss financial planner today!

I am a great financial planner, i took our overhead down  at least $250 a month just by checking out these things.

Check your cable bill:
If you have a large company like Cox Cable then you know they bundle their packages. Many times people do this because they think it is the best deal. In all reality it is not your best deal. You can do much better if you check out all those adds you receive in your mail box for satellite. I switched from cable to satellite and saved us $45 bucks a month. No i did not have premium channels like you would think. I had digital cable and dvr. Which i am addicted to so don't say dump it...At least not quite yet. My bill went from  $80 to $45 a good amount saved there. The this year the prices went even lower and yes i switched again, it saved us another $10 off my bill. You may think "I don't want to go to all the trouble" but in the end you have more channels and more features often then cable.

Check your phone bill:
Many people now only have a a cell phone as their main phone. If this is a option for you defiantly try it out, look up different plans if your does not fit the bill. If you still want a land line consider a VOIP company. There are a few out there, likeVonage, Skype, etc... I had Vonage and had $24.99 for unlimited everything for calls, including long distance. They have really good service as long as you have a internet connection. Another cheaper option is Magic Jack, which is a small usb based device that you plug in to you computer to use. It is only 19.99 a year for sevice, the catch...you have to leave your computer on all the time to receive calls. Not a bad deal though, we switch to this last year and had great service with our cox internet provider. You can have calls forwarded to you cell as well if you are out of town and you get email voicemails you open.
That said I now only have a cell phone because i switched our internts to a provider that did not support Magic jack.

Check you ISP(Internet Service Provider):
Again if you have this bundled you may be losing money, so check out all those deals. I have Clear a new wireless internet company that uses cell phone towers to transmit their signal. I pay $30 for life and I can move my modem to any city they are in if needed.

There are always deal but READ THE FINE PRINT!!

The Rules:
Ask questions
if there is a contract know when the amount will go up and or if it will be raised. You could sign up for super fast internet for a year for $39 and then realize the price is jacked up to $65 after the first year and you have a 2 year obligation!! Like Sprint or some other companies out there.

Do you shopping dilligently and take your time

Check what you pay now and see if there is a way to slim down the bill. I called Direct tv once to see if I could downgrade and they lowered my rate $10 a month for me just for calling!!

Call to negotiate

CHeck you bills- Don't be overcharged for something you don't need or use or ???

15 Shutterfly Cards free

Shutterfly has a HOT photo cards deal going on right now! New and existing Shutterfly users can get 15 FREE photo cards with the promo codes “PICKONE” to get 12 free cards and “SUMMERCARDS” to get 3 free cards when they checkout. The only charge is the shipping and tax, which comes out to $6.48.

This is a great deal for personal cards! I did the graduation ones 3 free and used them for fpersonal fathers day cards! They turned out so cute!
The 5 x 7 cards were $2.49 each at a quantity of 15, so my deal came out to $37.35 in photo cards for free! Below is my order summary after I entered the two codes:

Here’s how to get your free photo cards:

1. Sign up for login to Shutterfly HERE.

2. At the top of the page click on “Cards and Stationary.”

3. Select the type of card you would like and then select the specific design on the next page. They are not all the same size and orientation, so make sure you are getting the size and orientation you want.

4. Click “Get Started” and it will walk you through the steps of Personalizing, Editing, and Previewing the card. During the editing phase you will need to upload pictures from your computer to your account.

5. After you have previewed it and everything looks good click on “Order” on the top right of the screen.

6. The next page will ask you “How Would You Like to Send Your Cards” and defaults to “Send Them Back to Me.” You want to keep it on this option and click “Next,” otherwise you will pay 99¢ per card for the “Stamp and Mail for Me” service.

7. Some cards allow you to get 15, others only allow you to get 12. Select 12 or enter 15 depending on what your options are, and then enter in the address you would like them to ship to at the bottom. Click “Add to Cart.”

8. The next page will ask you to enter a gift note, and the page after that offers other card suggestions. Just click on “Continue to Cart.”

9. If you ordered only 12 cards enter the code “PICKONE” in the promotion code box at the bottom of the screen and hit “apply.” If you ordered 15 cards, enter “PICKONE” and the code “SUMMERCARDS“.

10. Once you see the shipping is $6.48 (or somewhere around there) click on “Go to Checkout.”

11. Enter your payment method and click “Place my Order” and you’re done!

And don’t forget that new Shutterfly users also get 50 free prints!

NOTE: It looks like “PICKONE” is working for some people and not others and I have no idea why. It worked perfect when I did it, but some are saying that it’s not working for them.

Homemade by Jill: Free Printable Alphabet Flashcards

Where are we going in the economy today?

After working in many different fields, i find myself in the Stay at home mom role. Mind you I love it and wouldn't change it for the world but in the economy how many of us are looking to bring in extra cash to our home is some manner. Like Etsy, Ebay, blogging(haven't figured it out all the way yet), online businesses, working from home, etc are all great ways to go about it. What happened to when 1 income was good enough to live on? I mean really I don't want to go back to the 50's and be all oppressed...woman served her man thing but really what is happening in the world today?
I find myself in the mist of major breakthrough...but what is it? I can't beleive that hard working people who pay all their bills on time, have a home, job, kids, the car are being forced to budget down to the last penny. I am a budget expert...I don't really want to look at how much more i could strip down our houshold budget anymore. Coupons are great but rather addicting and you have to remember not to buy it if you don't need it even if it is a quarter.
I love that I use cloth diapers. My favorite thing about cloth diapering is that i don't have to scour the papers and deal sites for the best diaper deal anymore. I really love not having to buy disposable diapers anymore. I am sure i may add to the stock at some time but I love what i have for now. A $200 investment(with expert shopping) for my stash is great. I feel good about myself every time I wash a diaper off, lol. Even my husband doesn't mind anymore. Why did i not try this before?
I have gone to making my own detergent...Yes, even that... I really don't mind it.
Here is the recpie if you dare to try:

The Duggar family Recpie:

Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap- Front or top load machine- best value

4 Cups - hot tap water

1 Fels-Naptha soap bar

1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda*

½ Cup Borax

- Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.

-Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.

-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)

-Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per 2 gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.

-Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.

-Top Load Machine- 5/8 Cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)

-Front Load Machines- ¼ Cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)

*Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda" - in some stores or may be purchased online here (at Meijer.com). Baking Soda will not work, nor will Arm & Hammer Detergent - It must be sodium carbonate!!

It looks a little cottage cheesey but it costs only $10 to get the supplies and a couple bucks per batch which makes approx. 640 loads. Worth the time to me.

Lastly, a couple budget recpies for fabric softeners

Making Baby food Series Part 2

So you are ready to feed some yummy veggies and fruits to you little one!

MMMMmmm... Butternut!
I started Nico with Butternut squash, he loved it. He was so happy to eat it,lol. I was so suprised. I always start with veggies and then fruit in the stage appriopriate.
So this week is stage one foods!!
What to feed when? I got a fantastic simple book from my neighbor when i started contemplating making baby food for my twins. I can't even remember the name of it now but it was very simple. So from there I started looking up info online about what foods to start when and how to cook it.

The Rules:

Introduce non-sweet foods first, such as cereals.

- Start with the veggies first!

As babies get older, the consistency of the foods thickens.

You can thicken your baby food with rice cereal because it has a little watery consistancy with some of the foods.

First foods will be very liquidy.

Before introducing subsequent new foods, wait a few days. Foods your baby tolerates well will be met with enthusiasm and will not cause elimination problems or allergic reactions.

Stage 1 Baby Food is a term that applies to baby foods that are highly pureed and strained. These foods are appropriate for babies who are just being introduced to solid foods. The foods in this range are targeted to babies who are between the ages of (4) 6 to 8 months old.

Start out slowly, preparing a tablespoon sized portion of whatever food you have chosen to begin with. Some parents begin offering their babies solid foods by using their (clean and washed) finger as a spoon. They say that this helps their babies take to solid foods because the "new" spoon and the "new" food all at once seem to confuse baby.

Stage 1 Grains:
Rice
Oatmeal
Barley
"Baby" cereal and soft cooked thinly pureed fruits and veggies should be baby's first solid food experiences. Single ingredients only and at a space of 4 days apart with introducing each new food. You may skip the cereal and begin with a fruit like avocado or begin with a veggie like butternut squash or sweet potato .

Stage 1 Veggies:

Sweet Potato
Squash- butternut or acorn
Avocado
Green Beans
Carrots-
Peas

Stage 1 Fruits:

Pumpkin
Apples
Avocados
Apricots
Bananas
Mango Nectarines & Peaches
Papaya
Pears
Plums & Prunes

Gabriel
Now that you know what to start with how do you cook it:

I usually steam or pressure cook the veggies or fruit and then puree it in a food processor or blender. I use a bullet, which works out great. The pressure cooker is so nice because cooking butternut or acorn squash or anything. If you have cooked hard fall/winter squashes you know that it takes forever to cook in the oven. So if you don't like to overheat your house try out a pressure cooker now.

Baby Foods To Avoid - Foods More Likely To Cause An Allergic Reaction Or Digestive Problem

• Eggs (especially the whites)

• Cow's milk

• Peanuts or peanut butter

• Shellfish - lobster, prawns, crab and shrimp

• Wheat

• Chocolate

• Soy

• Pork

• Gluten - contained in wheat, oats and barley

• Fish - particularly plaice, tuna, salmon, mackerel and sardines

• Berries - especially strawberries (but blueberries are NOT considered highly allergenic)

• Cinnamon

• Citrus fruits - orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime and tangerine

• Sesame seeds/sesame oil

• Corn

• Tomatoes

• Yeast

My lilttle Man Reese

The Sunday Rant: Disposable Swim diapers are ridiculous

Ok, I can't believe that i ever paid for disposable swim diapers. They are so darn expensive. I can't believe you could even thing to pay $10 or so for 20 diapers that would take me 10 days to go through here in Las Vegas for my twins. So i finally bought reusable swim diapers, I really didn't think about it before until i started cloth diapering. I was given a One step ahead reusable one size swim diaper that i didn't even use with the twins. I finally broke it out for Nico and love it. So, I bought 2 more for the boys. They are so easy and man I can't believe how much i am saving now!

So before you go swimming try out a reusable swim diaper and see how much money you can save as well!!

Silly soggy reusable swim diaper butts!
