Mother-Ease Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway
This giveaway is now closed!
Where did Mother-Ease Cloth Diapers come from??
"The sale of Mother-ease® products dates back to 1991 when we worked out of the basement of our home. At first our products were only sold in Canada. Shortly afterwards we sold our products in most of the European countries but our strongest sales were in Austria and Germany. Our products were made available by mail order in the United States in 1995." from the Mother-Ease website. They are based in Canada, but we are lucky enough to get them here in the states as well.
What are Mother-Ease Cloth diapers saying?
Real Benefits of One Size Cloth Diapers
The great news is that you only need 4 Mother-ease covers for full time diapering since the cover can be reused 3 or 4 times before being changed. Other diaper systems such as Pockets or All in Ones have a cover attached to each diaper which significantly increases their cost. Another benefit from buying Mother-ease is that you get a leak free, durable diapering system with years of proven performance.
Fit
One Size Cloth diapers can seem large on newborn babies but the benefit of buying one set of diapers outweighs this issue for many parents. See pictures showing the fit of our One Size diaper on babies from 8.5 lbs. to 25 lbs. (One Size Fit). If a custom fitted diaper system is what you are looking for please refer to our Sandy’s Diaper system, it has recently been awarded the Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) award for 2009 as best cloth diaper.
Here is a pic of the way to adjust the sizes:
The Mother-ease One Size Cloth Diapers are available in four different Diaper Fabrics.
Fabrics They Offer:
Stay Dry
This is our stretchy Cotton Terry diaper with our specially knit Stay Dry fabric sewn to the inside. The high tech fabric quickly wicks away moisture leaving baby's skin dry to the touch. This lightweight, 100% polyester fabric helps prevent diaper rash, reduces staining and rinses easily. This diaper is available in Unbleached Stretchy Cotton Terry with White Stay Dry inner.
Organic Cotton Terry
This knit terry is made from 100% organic cotton. Organic cotton is becoming increasingly popular as it is grown without the use of harmful chemicals that have an adverse effect on the environment.
Bamboo Terry
This terry fabric is specially knit with 70% Bamboo / 30% Cotton touching your baby’s delicate skin. Polyester is knit into the base of the fabric to provide strength, durability and shrinkage control. Our Bamboo Terry is available in its natural unbleached finish.
Cotton Terry
This terry is specially knit with only cotton touching your baby’s delicate skin, polyester is knit into the base of the fabric to provide strength, durability and shrinkage control. The result is a very reliable product. Our cotton terry is available in white, unbleached or color. Our stretchy Cotton Terry is the most durable fabric we offer.
This is a picture of what i recieved from Mother Ease Cloth Diapers. I choose the Rainforest Cover for my little ones. I did think the cover looked huge at first but when i put it on it fit just fine. It fits my twins as well. I was amazed by how soft the fabric was. The Bamboo terry is super sliky soft and I'm sure my little man's bum likes it. I have to admit after a couple washes I couldn't wait to test it out. So I put the diaper on at nap time. Yes, a danger for a diaper not totally prepped but why not?
When Nico woke up from his nap there were no leakage spots at all, the diaper didn't even feel that wet and he is a heavy wetter. I will be trying this one out at bedtime and letting you all know how it performs. There were no marks from too tight elastic and he did not have that musty air me out after nap thing going on, lol. Which if you know that... Well we won't go there.
The snaps are unique in the fit for the one size. Instead of snapping down like a different one size diaper you fold over the top and it reveals a different set of snaps. I think this is great as far as less bulk when you use a smaller size. See the drawings above!
Here is what it looks like: Medium size for Nico
The overall fit was great!
Legs fit great!
The rear fit!
The Air Flow Cover- Snaps on the side
The Overnight Test!!
I put this on my heavy wetter for night time with the insert as well and was wondering if i would be changing my little man's whole outfit and bed in the middle of the night. Well, let's just say the diaper worked fantstic! He woke up to eat at 3:00am and was dry, so i left him till morning. He was dry and the diaper did a great job. I was truely impressed and this will be in my night diaper rotation for good!!!
Now since we all know that the real test is the toddler test, I put this diaper to the "Twins" Test!
The diaper fit the boys great as well! Since we are potty training it worked great as a quasi underwear for the day and did not drip all over when my little angels forgot to run to the potty.
What does it cost?
One Size Introductory Offer
This offer is approx. 30% off the retail price.
This Introductory Package includes:
• 1 One Size Diaper (8-35 lbs)
• 1 Snap In Absorbent Liner
All taxes, shipping and handling costs are included in this one special price.
The Bamboo is $25.95. Which i think is a great deal for the 3 pieces.

Re posted: Frugal Friday: On A budget: Your Baby's Nursery
I love this post and I thought i would share it with you again!!
The biggest expense other then actually having your baby is the nursery. So the question is can you do up a fantastic baby's nursery in under $500 dollars? Of course you can!! I did and so can you. First off you need to set yourself a budget on what you want to spend in all!! Once you have you that then you can start looking. You have to start early, once you hit the second trimester start shopping. This should give you a good 3 months to start saving. My baby Nico's nursery cost less then $300. I don't have all the receipts but I know what went into it!
So let's start with the big stuff:
The Furniture:
Where to look?
If you are on a tight budget then you know how expensive putting together a nursery can look. You want it to be special in any attempt!
I found my crib and dresser/changing table as a set for $200 on Craigslist! It was in excellent condition 3 in one crib that converts later in white and a really nice white dresser/changing table. You have to grab it up if you see something you like for a great deal! See My pics below! My glider was given to me from a friend of a friend who was giving it away. It was beat up when i got it but a good friends mom who was a seamstress remade new cushions for it. I just bought the fabric, which was on clearance @ Joann's. In all it cost $15!! I even had a enough extra fabric to sew a valance(for my twins room)
The Bedding:
So even though we all know that no crib bumpers are to be used in cribs we want those cute sets. Let me tell you that you can find some great deals on brand new bedding sets. Smoking deals!! I was at target last week and found crib sets 75% off. They were $16.74 for the Dwell Studio crib bumpers, sheet, and comforter/blanket. Pictured below
I also found my little man's bedding set marked down @ Babies r us. I was there just checking clearance and they had these sets out in front marked down from $180 down to 1/2 of that which was $90 then.... 75% off of that price.. So i paid $25 bucks for a really nice bedding set with the works! I love the brown and white zebra print. You can see it in the pics!
So Where to look:
Target- Clearance
Babies r us- Clearance
Online- there are many many different online deal a day sites where you can find great deals.
Craigslist- Sometimes people will post new or barley used set for 75% less then it was new! Great deals..like that pottery barn set you had your eye on but is way out of your price range.
They key to the bedding is keep looking. You can always find one and then see one more you like later...so craigslist it yourself if you want.
EXAMPLE: From craigslist today!!
Excellent used condition, 8-piece baby crib bedding set. Cocalo Oasis features a safari animal theme in gender neutral green, yellow & blue, perfect for a new boy or girl. This set includes: crib bumper, crib sheet, dust ruffle, comforter, diaper stacker, 2-window valances & crib mobile. This set retails for around $170.
They were asking $65 or best offer!!
The other extras:
The wall art, the changing pad, Diaper stacker, etc, etc.
Again with craigslist.. it is great for finding all this stuff.
Joann's - Find some clearance fabric or use a coupon. I used some fabric i had and a little of new accent fabric.
Babies R us- I found all wall hangers for $10 on clearance. They are really cute.
Lowes/Home depot- Removeable wall stickers, oops paint- $5 for a gallon..quite a savings from $20 a gallon. I never did manage to paint the walls in Nico's room though.
I made my diaper stacker, and valance. As well as the initial with his name on it.
The last thing i love in my son's room is a great little organizer called a shoe organizer which i hung up and can put all sorts of stuff in. It's a great way to organizer all the little hats, diapers, socks, mittens, cloth inserts, etc.
Furniture $200
Bedding $25
Wall decor $10
Wall stickers $5 - - from Lowe's
$4 - Target letters
Glider $15 for fabric
Diaper stacker & valance $10 for fabric
Total : $269
Note: the extras were given as shower gifts for the twins and passed on to Nico...Poor Nico always getting the hand me downs.

The Sunday Rant: Where did summer go?
I can't believe that summer is already over. Usually this time of year I am starting up with a new group of freshman and sophomores in my fashion classes or Independent living class. I always am thankful to my hubby that I get the privilege to stay home with my wonderful kids instead of dragging my butt back to school like all the neighborhood kids. Although, I do have to admit the quiet lull of the neighborhood during school hours again is so nice.
Since I am a born Californian native, I love summer!! Even in the extreme heat of Vegas I love my pool and playtime with the boys in it. Now, I am at the point of no return...It's going to be fall! So goodbye summer and goodbye to the heat. At least when my boys go outside coming up the sandbox won't be scalding hot and we can play, ride our bikes in the afternoon again.
I am also sad to see the Daylight Savings time go away soon. I love the late night lighting and I hate it when it gets dark earlier. I want to be able to take a evening walk at 7 and not walk in the pitch black!
Our Last Hurrah at The San Diego Zoo! |
Last thing, Thanks to my hubby for working so hard so i can stay home with my beautiful boys and make a difference in their little lives! Love you Hubby!!
Have a great weekend and get ready for Fall!
